Three-piece garage rock band from London town, Virgin Kids, today premiere their new music video for their track ‘Bruised Knees’, exclusively here on Spindle. The track opens their new album, Greasewheel, released on Fluffer Records in the UK and Burger Records in the US. Let’s call it a nod to the 70’s west coast, while simultaneously offering a slice rock ‘n’ roll and a healthy dose of post-punk into the proverbial hotpot. Frontman Asher Preston’s vocals contribute to a ‘bear-hug of a chorus that sounds as if it is being bellowed with beery gusto down a scrappy tube of cardboard’. Overall, with the help of Paul Rosser and Jack Spencer-Davis, the three sound scruffy and punk’d up while maintaining the easy-listening surf rock nostalgia of Allah-Las or The Growlers.
Formed two years ago back in 2014 and what was initially nothing more than a bedroom project, Virgin Kids have since seen a gush of support from the music press, sold-out shows with Black Lips and The Big Moon and airtime on Radio 1 and Radio 6. They like them, we like them, and we think you might too.
