The curious parallels between ‘Trainspotting’ and the new sequel trailer

With the sequel to Danny Boyle’s modern classic ‘Trainspotting’ set to release early next year, a video has been made that compares the latest trailer with the original film to reveal their likeness. The film has already sounded promising; adapted from author Irvine Welsh’s follow up novel ‘Porno’; directed by Boyle; and featuring the original cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald. The video, ‘Trainspotting 1:2′ confirms the sequel will not stray far from what fans loved about the 1996 film.

Candice Drouet, whose vimeo account features numerous video essays and comparison videos, created the video, highlighting numerous similarities between the new film and its predecessor. From an iconic shot of the group standing beside rail tracks, to consistent character behaviour, to similar locations, framing and composition, ‘T2: Trainspotting 2′ looks set to stay true to the visual style of the original film. Fingers crossed the sequel with live up to expectations!
