The performance art trio of Shia LaBeouf, Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner have staged their latest piece at Sydney Opera House, titled ‘#ANDINTHEEND.’ The collective have previously completed numerous performance pieces, including ‘#ELEVATE,’ which saw them spend twenty-four hours in a lift, ‘#TAKEMEANYWHERE,’ where they hitchhiked via twitter, and ‘#ALLMYMOVIES,’ when LaBeouf watched every film he’s appeared in for a 72 hour movie marathon.

For this project, the artists asked participants to finish their sentence, with instructions reading, “The sole requirement is that each participant’s message should begin with the words: ‘AND IN THE END…’ Visitors are free to interpret this request in any way they see fit.” The performance took place over two successive nights and was part of ‘BINGEFEST,’ a twenty-four hour festival that celebrated pop culture, the internet and addictive storytelling. The finished sentences were then displayed on the side of the Opera House, which phrases such as “And in the end, I hope Kanye’s okay,” and “And in the end, Gretchen totally made fetch a thing.”
