Spindle Selects: Tracks of the Week

Another batch of tracks to soundtrack your office Christmas stereo. You’re welcome.

Billie Marten – ‘White Christmas’

This year’s best Christmas cover goes to Billie Marten, who’s heart-squeezingly sweet cover of ‘White Christmas’ has melted us like snow in the sun. Soft, gentle, sweet and nostalgic, it’s just what you need to carry you through these final days of work.

TÃLÃ – ‘Tell Me That’

TÃLÃ is back to follow up her comeback single ‘Talk 2 Me’ with the suitably edgy, bouncy yet sensual ‘Tell Me That’. The Iranian star commandeers with magnetic authority over electronic breakdowns, glitchy synths and rapid-fire beats. New EP ‘The Z?l’ is out now.

Rationale – ‘Vessels’

That irresistible voice is back. ‘Vessels’ is every inch as gorgeous as we’ve come to expect from Zimbabwe-born, London-based Rationale. After a pretty momentous 2016, the release comes from a new EP of the same name, set to mark the soulful newcomer out at the forefront of 2017’s music scene as we ride the year out.

J Cole – ‘Immortal’

Following his documentary ‘Eyez’ and single releases of ‘False Prophet’ and ‘Everybody Dies’ (which sadly didn’t make it on the album), J. Cole finally dropped his highly anticipated 4th album ‘4 Your Eyez Only’. This record has the potential to be as, if not more successful than his previous albums. A solid project from J.Cole.

Little Simz Ft. Tilla – ‘Poison Ivy

London rapper Little Simz finally gives us something new in light of announcing the release of her sophomore album ‘Stillness In Wonderland’. ‘Poison Ivy’ brings a different feel from her previous work but still beautifully arranged and shows much growth. Her album is due to be released tomorrow (16 Dec).

Post Malone Ft. Kehlani ‘Feel’

Post teams up with Kehlani for a sultry R&B and hip-hop track ‘Feel’ which features in Post Malone’s debut album ‘Stoney’ (named after his old nickname ‘Stoney Maloney’). The 14 track LP also includes features with Justin Bieber, Quavo and 2 Chains.

Goan Dogs – Drifting Apart

The new release from Bristol cult band Goan Dogs continues to affirm their reputation as one of the most intelligent, emotionally-manipulative bands around. ‘Drifting Apart’ arrives as just another reason to get extremely excited about a home-grown five-piece that effortlessly combine inherent musical ability and a real penchant for subtly jabbing lyricism.

DJ Fresh vs Diplo – Bang Bang ft, Selah Sue, R.City and Craig David

Fresh is back and sounding better than ever. It’s been nearly one whole year since DJ Fresh dropped his last single and it’s safe to say that we have most definitely missed his signature sound wafting across the airwaves. This new cut also features a stellar collaborative line-up, including comeback king, Mr Craig David. The track is out now with an accompanying video dropping in January 2017.

MMOTHS – 0034

This week MMOTHS, A.K.A. 23 year-old Irish musician and producer Jack Colleran, shared ‘0034’ – a brand new track and his final under the name MMOTHS. The sweeping, cinematic track, will be released as a digital single on 16th December 2016 via Because Music/ OYAE. Enjoy.

Dominique – Dominique

Dominique is a prime example of today’s modern-day DIY musician. She started learning how to use music production software Ableton Live & collaborated with other producers for a while before realising she wanted to be the sole producer of her own sound. Dominique began writing her debut EP in early 2016 and her new body of work is a collection of meticulously crafted indie pop songs and explores periods of both artistic and personal development, pairing reminiscent lyrics with punchy drums and spacey atmospheres
