As March is nearly upon us, it feels only right to start planting our seeds for summer and what better than that of Secret Garden Party’s 10th birthday. Ready for cultivation by “gardeners” across the globe from July 19th – 22nd , this year’s Secret Garden Party promises a bumper crop with variety headliners and laid back festival conquerors, Orbital and the quite magnificent Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Feel free to take some cuttings from punk rock and roll delegates the Jim Jones revue, new kid on the allotment and current radio favourite King Charles plus, returning to the Cambridge tea party 8 years after her first appearance, KT Tunstall and the legend that is Little Roy .
With promises of hypnotic ceremonies, interactive theatre, innovative artworks and even a spot of fine dining at the Soul Fire restaurant by festival organisers Secret Productions, this year’s “Standing on Ceremony” themed 10th birthday garden party pledges to be hotter than a greenhouse full of chilli peppers in the Mexican desert.
As if our esteemed headliners were not enough, budding gardeners secure the rights to see chilled out funksters Vintage Trouble, hauntingly sexy The Duke Spirit plus ,hotly tipped for 2012, Pearl and the Beard, all in full bloom.
With announcements of more acts to follow AND luxury camping on offer, this is a garden party to be missed at your peril.
With Alan Titschmarsh safely locked away at Radio 2 and Charlie Dimmock and her lack of bra thankfully nowhere to be seen, gardeners of the world unite and collapse upon Cambridge this July, but don’t’ go telling everyone, it’s supposed to be a secret – SSsshhhhh !
