Irish duo Saint Sister’s music is an magical blend of folk and electronic pop, layering beautiful harmonies over dreamy, haunting synths to create ‘atmosfolk.’ Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty began making their music together in 2014, drawing inspiration not only from 60’s folk and electronica, but also from early Celtic harp traditions, using the shimmering, delicate sound of an electro-acoustic harp. This combination of influences has certainly resulted in a unique sound; exquisite, bewitching, and completely captivating. Impressively, their first live show was in support of Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, and they have since toured in numerous European cities, showcased at SXSW in the US, played festivals including Latitude and Glastonbury, and November sees them touring across the UK in support of Mutual Benefit. They released their first EP ‘Madrid’ last year, and revealed their latest single ‘Tin Man’ last month. Saint Sister are definitely something special, and, intrigued by their spellbinding sound, we asked them to share some secrets with us.

1. For the first few months the band went under the name ‘O Sister’.

2. Morgan and Gemma first met playing against each other at a Battle of the Bands. Neither of them won.

3. The girls lived one building apart from each other during their whole final year at college, without getting to know each other.

4. Morgan was a contestant on an episode of Family Fortunes when she was in school.

5. When Gemma was 2 years old she appeared in a music video for D-Ream’s lesser known hit, ‘Blame It On Me.’
