British designer Phoebe English initially became well-known after her debut in womenswear, but after since making the bridge into menswear, her designs now also cater for the male market who prioritise practicality, accessibility and classically relaxed modern menswear.

Inspired by the creative men in her life – men she knows, works with and lives with – this relaxed collection made from natural fibres fully embodies the ‘simple yet effective’ ethos of the Phoebe English MAN label. Focusing on functional separates, Autumn/Winter ’17 is made up up buttoned shirts, cotton joggers, wide fit trousers, hooded jackets and loose coats on a base of charcoal and coal black and classic silhouettes.

Adding depth with navy and greens, this season also see’s an exploration in fabrics, and in fact it is only with the use fabrics that you may find any element of complexity in this season’s collection. The simple contrast of velvet, corduroy, waxed cotton and vertically striped soft ticking offer texture and detail without loosing sight of simple aesthetic or each item’s primary function.
