The Fratellis at O2 Forum Kentish Town: In Pictures

The Fratellis will perhaps always be best known for their stomping indie pop tune ‘Chelsea Dagger,’ a instantly recognisable noughties anthem, so you’ll be surprised to hear how the band’s sound has transformed. Their latest album, ‘Eyes Wide Tongue Tied’ is more Americana than raucous pop. The band seem to have somewhat matured, refining their rowdy sound into something a little more sophisticated. Not they have lost their knack for writing a strong, catchy hook, it’s just the way they do it has just evolved, fingerpicking riffs in a country style, borrowing from more glam and music-hall sounds, and seeming to have a wider range of influences, from Stevie Wonder to Razorlight. However, in amongst this rejuvenation remains some Fratellis staples, such as plenty of swagger and anthemic tunes. But this time, they’re infused with Americana.

Last week the band played the 02 Forum Kentish Town, and we were there to capture all the action in case you missed it.
