Austrian born but now Berlin based, James Hersey combines folk, electronic, and pop music seamlessly. Pairing his soft vocals with vibrant tropical guitar plucking, and modern dance elements, Hersey creates a singer-songwriter-edged sound unlike any other in the electro-pop world.
Hersey first came to the public eye with the track “Coming Over” which became at hit after major producers Dillon Francis & Kygo remixed it. Syncopated and upbeat, “Coming Over” shows off his extensive vocal range in its pre chorus.
Now Hersey is showing that he can hold his own with his debut single “Miss You”, a track that offers an alternative approach to a love song. Much like “Coming Over” his voice is clear, powerful and tells a intimate and unique story. The track has already secured over 65 million listens on Spotify and it’s just getting started.
In “Miss You” Hersey speaks to a lover in a relationship he know won’t last. It’s intimate, honest, but what’s most impressive is that he wrote it in under a week. He comments on the infectious track,“I wrote and produced the first draft of ‘Miss You’ in two virtually sleepless days and nights. Three days later I was on a plane to England to cut (and finish writing) what is now my debut single. It was like windsurfing, when you catch the right gust at the right moment and you’re catapulted forward by this incredible, invisible force. That’s what it feels like to write music you love.”
Constantly reinventing himself and his sound James Hersey will be the face you want to keep your eye on, and with much more to come in 2017 that won’t be hard.
