Xiao Li’s AW17 presentation at London Fashion Week on Tuesday was full of chunky knitwear, pastel colours, ruffled necks, interesting tie-up ribbon straps, and innovative takes on tailoring. A pale pink jacket and shorts combo had gorgeously delicate details of ribbons tied in bows on each sleeve and pocket, and underneath the jacket a white ruffled high neck poked out. This bow detailing was seen throughout the collection, tying up sleeves at the wrist and forming shoulder straps, and ruffles were also used throughout on necklines, sleeves, and socks. Oversized jumpers, hats, and scarves in mottled yarn of blue, white, and purple hues also featured, as well as some lovely tailored outerwear pieces.
Other key looks included a pastel green, floor length velvet dress with ruffles up the chest to join the neckline, a chunky knitted jumper with contrasting baby blue arms that were tied up with big woollen bows, and a white blouse that was gathered at the waist with ribbons and had a sheer section over the shoulders that met a ruffled neck, as well as tie-up ribbons at the wrists. The collection felt relaxed, soft and playful, while the intricate details added a sense of feminine grace and grandeur.
