Austin, Texas hosts an iconic festival every year, offering a plethora of creative bonding in technology, music and film. Venturing into this for the first time, enigmatic ‘future pop’ artist ADAL (formerly known as Phantom Runners) journeyed to the heart of this to introduce a taster of his own collection of collaborations from his upcoming debut LP. His debut SXSW performance combined a series of remixes of breaking and prominent artists including Shura, The XX and FREJA. Styling an intrinsic future-pop style, his touch borders on influences of house and 90’s synth pop, that gives a refreshing and infectious signature on modern classics.
ADAL is currently writing a debut album, with an array of featuring vocalists which include FREJA, Indiana, Delaire and XY&O. 2017 is set to be an exciting year for the ‘king collaborator’. 2016 was a busy year for ADAL having played a number of summer festivals with his band Phantom Runners in 2016 which included The Great Escape, Lee Fest, Blissfields, Sound City, Southsea Festand BST Fest and are creating a serious live buzz.
ADAL concludes “The whole festival feels like a potent mix of creatives from all over. It feels like a beginning of a new era, people from different fields can come together and cross pollinate. For me thats why collaboration is the future. “If we’re gonna move forward, we gotta do it together. We can’t leave anybody behind. We gotta protect each other”.
