The dazzling songstress Claire
Just looking at Claire Mortifee, you can see her shining aura. It is a blessing, that she can share her art through music with us all. It is easy to see Claire’s musical inspirations through her music, they include Amy Winehouse, Little Dragon and Grimes. She is a big supporter of the living legend Erykah Badu and has even covered a medley of hers in one of her many live jam sessions. Claire’s music can be described as Neo-soul fused with jazz and electronica, a simply timeless sound. If you bump to the likes of Quadron, Joomanji and Moonchild, then you can thank me later, as Claire Mortifee will give you the perfect dose of future-soul this summer.
The track ‘Ouroboros’ was produced by Grammy-winning producer Chin Injeti. Claire shares some insight into the track. “[The ouroboros] mirrors that each death my ego undergoes is also inevitably a rebirth,” explains Claire. “From those ashes, newer + more authentic selves blossom. That’s how the Ouroboros heals…by reminding us that we are sacred through every phase of our evolution. We are loved, and we are lovable, no matter what.” Claire is a spiritual artist, who encourages her audience toward a revolution of self-compassion, or as she declares it, “whole-hearted, shameless self-love for everything you are in this moment.”
Claire’s debut album Medicines, has been carefully crafted and is due out soon. Featuring production and collaboration with Vancouver’s best and brightest, Medicines marks a turning point in the young visionary’s career and in her journey. Based on the single ‘The Ouroboros’ we can’t wait to hear what the album has in store for us.
