‘Nice Shoes’ John Parry’s debut single released August 18th channels his inner Jamie T and Jack Garratt. Parry has proved himself to be a truly talented songwriter and performer. All furiously strummed on electric guitar, self-deprecating lyrics and “na na na na na na” refrain, ‘Nice Shoes’ is destined to be a single of the summer.
Check out the video below. It’s Cinderella with a twist; not the classic ‘boy gets girl’ cliché. The former boxer shows us the sights of East London, while trying to find the girl who lost her shoe. It feels gritty and shows a realistic view of London life, from the Santander bikes, tube stations to the corner shops.
John Parry, a boxer turned singer-songwriter, quite a career change for someone so young at 20 years old. In such a short amount of time, Parry has accumulated an ever-growing listening on Spotify and has already performed at Lovebox festival and supported the likes of Fismoll. Multifaceted, Parry can croon moodily over a ballad, flow like a rapper and even growl social commentary like a punk. Already with a growing list of achievements and talents behind him and many more to come, John Parry is definitely one to look out for. Be sure to get tickets to future gigs or events, catch him while you can! Parry can be seen at his residency at The George Tavern, where his release party will also be on September 14th.
