What’s new at Williamburg’s Nitehawk Cinema?

Brooklyn Comedy Festival:  The Brooklyn Comedy Festival and Kickstarter present a “diverse week-long program of feature-film premieres, cult classics, revisited mind-blowing shorts and live conversations with the creators behind this year’s official selections.” This brings you Sex House on August 21st, Snowy Bing Bongs Across the North Star Combat Zone on the 22nd, Village People the 23rd, Neighborhood Food Drive the 24th and Brunch Shorts Program(s) 1 & 2 on the 26th and 27th. Get ready to laugh!

Fairy Tales: We say life isn’t like them. But it can be, when we read, watch and immerse ourselves in them. Commemorating the 30th anniversary of The Princess Bride, this schedule of movies – The Princess Bride on August 30th, Babe: Pig in the City September 2nd and Shrek on the 9th – offers both the Escapism we want and the Happy Ending we’re looking for.

Miskatonic University: H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Beyond” prompts this last series, for which tickets can be bought on August 3rd. The premise circles around the “horrifying parallel worlds that exist, and haunt, our everyday reality” and has a truly pants-shatting catalog for both brunches and midnites that cover, for brunch: Buckaroo Bonzai, The Dunwich Horror, Ghostbusters and The Haunted Palace; at midnight: Cabin in the Woods, The Void, From Beyond and In the Mouth of Madness. Head over if you’re sold on horror movies, like things that go bump in the night or just up for a scare!
