FACE, a Glasgow-formed, London-based quartet, emerged at the end of last month when their debut single ‘Imagination’ seemingly appeared out of nowhere. The track is a huge, guitar-pop anthem-in-the-making, with legendary producer Stuart Price (The Killers, Everything Everything, New Order, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys) at the helm and released via his own, Warners-affilated label AOA.
Comparisons to The Killers are certainly worth noting, not just for the involvement of Price who produced that band’s third album ‘Day & Age’ and also lead singer Brandon Flowers’ debut solo effort ‘Flamingo,’ but for the uplifting, arms-aloft, feel good nature of the music, as ‘Imagination’ is powered along on a wave of thunderous drums and sweeping guitar and synth lines before exploding into a huge chorus.
The animated clip to accompany the single, premiered below, features panoramic views of mountain tops, deserts and oceans, interspersed with stencil drawings of the band.
Lead singer David Arthur says of the track: “‘Imagination’ is a song about letting go in life. Being wild, rebelling against authority, following your dreams without fear, doing whatever you feel is right without a single hesitation to what people say or think about you. Step outside of that little everyday box that’s been created for you by people very much inside the box.”
A sneaky look on Apple Music shows an EP is on the cards so expect to hear more songs from FACE soon.
