New York City-born photographer, Andres Serrano, has his first solo exhibition in nine years up now in Chelsea’s Jack Shainman Gallery. On view from this week until November 4th, the show is a powerful introduction to anyone who has not previously seen Serrano’s work. Since he first began creating in the 1980s, the artist has always had the gift of being able to present taboo subjects in a very intimate, matter-of-fact way. Ku Klux Klan members, corpses, and sometimes even his own bodily fluids: Serrano has touched on it all without hesitation. More recently, however, he presented a collaboration with Supreme including hats, skate shoes, and sweat shirts.
