A name that merges the wondrous solitude and beauty of the US state, Queen Alaska hones a sound that captures this so poignantly. Combining analogue synthesizers, drum machines, vocal cuttings, Anneli Bentler hones a fine articulation for harmonic structures in rich electro-pop formulas.
Her latest effort, ‘Run To You’ is a clear subject of her writing style, the single is sprinkled and sharpened with her signature airy synth arpeggios and an effervescent vocal. Sweetened with bouncy, synth textures and Anneli’s signature synth patterns, her knack for intelligent beat perfection and lyric writing is admirable.
Queen Alaska tells Spindle more context behind the single..
“Run To You is about the trouble that sometimes comes with making a decision or a commitment. Berlin is a city full of opportunities, full of young, beautiful people, so it is hard to fully commit to something when there’s a possibility of someone or something better that might come round soon. The city seems to whisper, you have to stay free and fully live the moment there. It sounds so easy but after a while it brings heaviness and loneliness. The urge for dedication comes up and kicks in at the wrong moment – and you are caught in the beautifully tragic circle of our commitment-phobic generation.”
Taken from her newly released EP, ‘Interlude Of The Inner Voice I/II’, Anneli forged a collection of six blissful tracks for this release. All written and produced by Anneli, the new EP is a taster of the forthcoming debut album soon to be released.
