Premiere: ROE – ‘Playground Fights’

Tuesday 17 October 2017
Words Alice Bell

There’s a new singer-songwriter on the block to tug on your heartstrings and her name is ROE.

ROE – real name Roisin Donald, an 18-year-old from Derry, Ireland – is making a bold entrance onto the electronic pop scene with emotional single ‘Playground Fights’, the video for which is premiering right here on Spindle.

The song traces the difficulties of growing older and the pains of growing into adult decision-making with a sleight of hand in the songwriting that is impressive given ROE’s tender years.

ROE has expressed that the video ‘is related to how the song is about getting older and the often dark realities that can coincide with that. It can be scary to have to suddenly grow up, and out of nowhere have to deal with adult situations and their consequences, and I really wanted this video to reflect that. I hope you like it!

We’re loving it over here – watch the video for yourself below! Don’t forget to watch out for ROE on her UK tour which finishes on the 2nd November at The Four Thieves, London.
