Did you think we’d leave you to comb this week’s fashion news for the highlights all by yourself? For shame! Check out what’s been going on this week in fashion below.
In only a few weeks, Shanghai will play host to the 2017 Victoria’s Secret fashion show, the catwalk show that epitomises more than any other calendar event the meaning of what Janis Ian in Mean Girls called the ‘regulation hottie’. As a fleet of tall, ethereally beautiful women don luxury underwear and skyscraping heels, one will be snapping on the One Bra to Rule Them All – the coveted Fantasy Bra. And this week, Victoria’s Secret announced that this year that person is Brazilian-born Angel Lais Ribeiro, who will be wearing the Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra, covered in diamonds, yellow sapphires, and blue topaz. PEOPLE shared a video of Ribeiro receiving the massive news – watch below!
Nicki Minaj has shared a taste of her coming Christmas campaign for H&M
This week, Swedish retailer H&M announced that rapper and model Nicki Minaj will be starring in their upcoming holiday campaign. Nicki herself posted a photo from the campaign of Instagram, with the understated caption ‘All new @hm Holiday Campaign shot in Scotland. Stay tuned.’ Minaj revealed way back in May that she was working on a collab and capsule collection with the brand as she stepped out in a custom H&M gown on the Met Gala red carpet, and we can’t wait to see more photos from the shoot, as well as what else is in store from this pairing.
Ashley Graham releases new size-inclusive swimsuit collection for her 30th birthday
Body posi campaigner and supermodel Ashley Graham this week showed that turning 30 doesn’t mean you need to slow down. On the contrary, she spent the day in Costa Rica with seven of her closest pals shooting a campaign for her brand new swim line. Ever a champion for women of all sizes feeling good in their own skin and not having to cover up the flesh that the media would see as ‘extra’, her new ‘Essentials’ collection features a wide range of bikinis and one-piece bathing suits designed to make any woman feel great about herself. We just hope she got a spare moment to chow down on at least a caterpillar cake – a birthday’s still a birthday, Ashley!
Christopher Bailey has announced that he is stepping down from the board at Burberry
2018 will be Burberry executive Christopher Bailey’s last year at the fashion retailer, the ex-CEO announced this week. Bailey is widely credited with having aided in Burberry’s upgrade from small UK outfit to a global fashion brand, innovating in the areas of digital marketing by streaming their fashion shows live and pioneering the redesign of their flagship stores. It’s a sad announcement, as Bailey has been a part of the Burberry story for 17 years, their chief creative designer since 2014, and even served as CEO until July this year – but as the man himself said, ‘I do truly believe […] that Burberry’s best days are still ahead of her.’ We hope so, too!
Cara Delevingne and Matt Smith make for a quirky Christmas campaign
It’s not all sad news from Burberry this week though! The brand have also teased a whimsical Christmas campaign coming from everyone’s favourite Very British oddballs, Cara Delevingne and Matt Smith. The pair were shot by Alasdair McLellan, with a 30-second video showing the two having what looks to be a whale of a time frolicking to ‘Always On My Mind’ by the Pet Shop Boys. A stellar musical choice for a match made in whatever heaven populated by very beautiful and quirky Brits Delevingne and Smith came from. Watch the video for yourself below…
