Eccentricity is often associated with creativity, and I’m pretty happy that the British are seen as an eccentric bunch. As John Stewart Mill once said, a lack of eccentricity is “the chief danger of the time”, so it looks like we are alright for now!

East London denim brand Lee Cooper’s AW13 collection has been inspired by rebellious British youth and British eccentricity and draws upon the grandeur and revelry of late night parties.

Lee Cooper creates tough, reliable clothing that attracts artisans and craftsmen from across the globe. These people are Makers. In the words of Arthur O?Shaughnessey, they are the music- makers, the dreamers of dreams, the world-losers and world-forsakers, the movers and the shakers. The AW 13 campaign features such Makers and includes  a writer (Kevin Soar ), set designer (Penny Mills), comic artist (Joe Kessler) and photographer/sculptor (Rachel Hunt).

Womenswear garments include leather jackets, velvet skinny jeans and chambray trimmed woven shirts, whilst the men’s collection includes officer’s jackets that hint at military memorabilia, quilted bombers and leather jackets with metal hardware. Denim still remains key for both men and women but is updated through the use of seasonal colour tones such as red, olive and beige.
