Our first Spindle Selects playlist of 2018 and we have some right smashers for you!
Billie Eilish – ‘idontwannabeyouanymore’
The 16-year-old formidable singer/songwriter is about to create even more waves this year. The poignant track ‘idontwannabeyouanymore’ taken off her ‘dont smile at me’ album has been given a dreamy, ethereal ‘vertical video’. Looking forward to see what’s coming from her next.
Kendrick Lamar Ft SZA – ‘All The Stars’
It was revealed that Kendrick and the TDE team are putting together the soundtrack for the next HUGE Marvel film ‘Black Panther’. It’s not surprising how stunning the lead track ‘All The Stars’ Ft SZA is. Makes the release of the film all that more exciting.
Lancey Foux ft Lil Cholo – ‘Dough’
East London based artist Lancey Foux kicks off the new year with this contagious, trippy new track. Lil Cholo compliments Foux nicely creating a song which can only be listened to with the volume well high where you can really feel the heavy bass drop.
Bruno Mars x Cardi B – ‘Finesse (Remix)’
Bruno Mars and Cardi B have teamed up on the first monster hit of the year on this ‘Finesse’ remix. Originally an album track on Bruno’s third studio album, ‘24K’, the remix benefits from a heavy dose of Cardi’s colourful persona – with an equally colourful 90’s inspired video to match. Don’t sleep on this one…
Youngr – ‘Ooh Lordy’
Continuing with the feel-good vibes this week is Youngr, the musician/singer/producer/songwriter/music prodigy. ‘Ooh Lordy’ is the new single taken from his ‘This Is Not An Album’ collection, which, no surprise here, is not an album but instead a collection of the excellent singles he’s released thus far. Despite having to live up to huge hits like ‘Out Of My System’, ‘Ooh Lordy’ comes as one of the collection’s high points; it’s a euphoric slice of jubilant pop, and makes us wish it was summer already.
Francis And The Lights – ‘Just For Us’
Francis And The Lights are responsible for the first ‘surprise drop’ of 2018, releasing a whole new album just hours after announcing its existence. Title track ‘Just For Us’ is three minutes of deliciously funky 80’s sounds, synth stabs, Francis’ beautifully melodic vocal and a kicking bass beat. It’s a somewhat fuller sound than previous releases, but once again features Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. Take a listen below.
