Spindle Selects: Tracks of the Week

All the best new music for you to get your ears around.

Ab-Soul ft. James Blake & Anderson .Paak – ‘Bloody Waters’

The highly anticipated Black Panther soundtrack orchestrated by recent Grammy-Awardee Kendrick Lamar is finally here, and it did not disappoint. With so many great artists participating the entire score is must-hear material. However, we found this James Blake led track unique in that it combined his British-tinged vocals with the free-spiritedness of Anderson .Paak along with the hard-hitting lyrics of fellow TDE member Ab-Soul, to concrete it as an absolute stand-out.

Brent Faiyaz – ‘Make Luv’

Four months have gone past since breakout R&B star Brent Faiyaz released his critically-acclaimed debut album Sonder Son. Now he’s back with a bonus track that puts his sultry vocals on display once again as he fires back at the people of his past who may have doubted he’d gain success. This summer Faiyaz will be teaming up again with his other project titled ‘Sonder’ to work on the groups second studio album in New York. Look for his name to be one to watch in 2018.

Felix Jaehn – ‘Cool’ ft. Marc E Bassy & Gucci Mane

Felix Jaehn was thrust into the spotlight with his 2015 summer anthem on his remix of Omi’s ‘Cheerleader’. Now set to release his debut album ‘I’ through Casablanca records this Friday, he sets the tone with this fun tune with an important message, stay true to yourself. Assisted by California R&B act Marc E. Bassy, and Atlanta icon Gucci Mane, the unique cinematic visual can be seen below.

Jacob Banks – ‘Diddy Bop’ ft. Louis The Child

The other anticipated soundtrack of last week has also arrived, in the 50 Shades Freed project, making a major impression with its diverse array of futuristic pop and love ballads. This tune, featuring the sultry vocals of Jacob Banks and the fun production of Chicago production duo Louis The Child, it is one of the most unique on the record. Banks describes the track impeccably stating, ‘Diddy Bop for me is all about celebrating life and getting lost in a moment‘. We highly recommend listening to the entire superb soundtrack, but pay close attention here this is one you won’t want to miss!

:PM – ‘Feel Like A Fool’

The Yorkshire lads are back with their infectiously upbeat new single ‘Feel Like A Fool’. Packed with the northern mischief we’ve come to know and love, the new track is a playful story about young love. Watch out for their debut EP that’s set to come this year.

Captain Kidd – ‘BLEED’

In search for creative inspiration, the 4-piece band decided to spend a weekend out at a cabin – in the middle of nowhere – in southern Ohio. It was were that this celestial indie-pop track was produced. A track that’s definitely one to sink yourself into.

Khalid & Normani – ‘Love Lies’

Recorded for the soundtrack for new film ‘Love, Simon’ that’s set to be released later this year, this collaboration brings two incredible young R&B singers together. A great pairing and with it being released on Valentine’s day was just so fitting.

Only Girl – ‘Mountain’

Beautiful new track ‘Mountain’ is a reminder to us of how captivating Only Girl’s ethereal vocal is. Very much looking forward to hearing what’s to come from the South London singer.
