Get your ears around the best new sounds of the week.

BB Diamond – ‘Man Or a Monster’

BB is back with a banger to ease us right into the bank holiday weekend. It’s been a while since we’ve had any new music from the London-based talent, and boy was it worth the wait.  The single sees BB collaborating with Producer Shift K3y, who she previously hooked up with on dance-floor smash ‘Gone Missing’ back in 2016. Although a slight departure in sound, ‘Man Or a Monster’ is packed full of signature BB Diamond sounds, with that unmistakable vocal dominating the slick production.

Polo-‘Louder Than Words’

Leeds-based trio Polo have proven themselves to be trailblazers in the world of pop today with their tantalising electricity and honest lyrical ability . On their latest single, ‘Louder Than Words’, the synth-pop group made up of Luke Lount, Kat McHugh, and Daniel Edgell have continued to push the spectrum of their genre by creating a glossy aura with a heartfelt message. ‘Actions speak louder than words’ is the statement at the heart of the record and displays the genuine nature of Polo while also combing elements of their infectious signature sound.

Billy Lockett-‘Empty House’

Billy Lockett has made a quick start to his 2018 and we could not be more impressed. Cementing a deal with Warner Brothers and East Records Lockett has evolved his sound to include harder-hitting instrumentation and key electronic elements. This is ever present on his latest video for his record titled ‘Empty House’. The cinematic score sees Billy starring in moving fashion and emotes the true feeling of his artistry with a British drama-like visual directed brilliantly by Ethan Graham.

Jessie Reyez -‘Figures, a Reprise’ ft. Daniel Caesar

Fresh off her feat of winning breakthrough artist of the year at the 2018 Juno Awards, Jessie Reyez has issued a sultry re-make of ‘Figures’ with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar. The two debuted the song together during the awards ceremony and harmonize effortlessly throughout the track. With the budding success of both these artists on full display expect the reprise to only add to the popularity of Reyez’s breakthrough hit.

Australian dou CVIRO & GXNXVS (pronounced ‘Cairo & Genius’) have released the first single off of their upcoming EP titled Now You Know. Brimming with a retro-soul sound that combines smooth vocals over a silky upbeat production, the record is a brilliant intro. Always managing to implement the romantic element into their music, the two are poised to continue evolving their future R&B sound with the anticipated project.

Kayn -‘The Kid’ ft. Vali Ant

Hailing from an artistic outpost that has become an underground hub of creativity in Pittsburgh, future-pop producer Kayn has issued his debut single ‘The Kid’. Mentored by New York City first-generation DJ/Producer Vicious Vic, the 20 year old talent will look to continue to grow as he releases a series of singles building off of his work with Capitol Records/Listen For Pleasure crooner Amir Miles and an opening performance for hip-hop royalty act Migos.

Tropkillaz – Milk & Honey’ ft. Aloe Blacc.

Tropkillaz are the duo formed by Brazil’s top producers from the old and new school DJ Zegon and Laudz. The result of this junction is an intense collection of club bangers that blend many styles from trap and bass music with hip hop, trap and Latin music creating a unique tropical bass sound & style. The boys take on 2018 in style by unleashing new single, “Milk & Honey” feat. Aloe Blacc.

Shawn Mendes – ‘Lost In Japan’

It has been a big week for Shawn Mendes with 2 releases. ‘Lost In Japan’ is second release  but with this one, he explores a new R&B sound. This diverges from his piano ballads or his typical strummy acoustic tracks. Starting with jazzy piano, entering into a clean beat, and going into a Justin Timberlake sounding grove, Mendes really explores a new sound for him. Both of his new tracks are expected to be included in his upcoming album coming out later this year.

Diplo – ‘California’

Diplo’s latest project, ‘California,’ veers from his typical build up and beat drops that we have been used to with so many of his projects. He creates a more mellow and laidback vibe which goes with the California lifestyle Diplo has become accustomed to since moving there. As expected, Diplo has star-studded features with Lil Yachty, Desiigner, MØ, Goldlink, and more. This is an extremely diverse project for Diplo which is a great display of his versatility drawing inspiration from Hip-Hop and R&B.

Matoma – ‘Lonely’

Matoma has dropped a tropical sounding second single from forthcoming sophomore album. The high energy of ‘Lonely’ is sure to become a party anthem. It’s a song about fake people who aren’t always there for you and the lyrics are powerful. The song showcases Matoma’s continued ability to create infectious pop hooks. MAX, who recently made an international breakthrough with single ‘Lights Down Low,’ is extremely energetic and there is no doubt these two will light up festival stages with this collaboration this summer.
