Taylor Swift releases introspective, dreamy video for “Delicate”

Taylor Swift has disappeared. Well, not really. But in her new video for “Delicate,” Swift finds a magic piece of paper that renders her invisible. It portrays the 28-year-old pop star grappling with the realities of stardom; she finds herself frustrated as her security guards follow her every move and a crazed “fan” tries to grab her — all of which results in a multitude of eye rolls.

It is then that Swift realizes what the paper can do; As she frolics around the hotel, she begins yelling, dancing and at one point ripping away her dress, all as her soft but synthesized melody crones on in the background. In this video directed by Joseph Kahn, who also directed the previously released visuals for Reputation, Swift exercises a carefree spirit that is seemingly only possible if she remains unrecognized.

The video comes before Swift kicks off a massive world tour in May with supporting acts Charlie XCX and Camila Cabello.
