Here at Spindle we know a bop when it slaps us in the face and BOY have we been smacked! Having just dropped brand new single ‘Sunrise In The East’, Becky Hill is having quite the moment! She is part of a new wave of British pop artists for whom the only way is on their terms and whose artistic vision is all their own.
Hill is an exceptional new talent on the pop landscape after being plucked from obscurity as a teen and thrown into the limelight as a contestant on The Voice, before embarking on worldwide tours with Rudimental and experiencing huge chart success through her collaborations with Wilkinson, Oliver Heldens and MK.
For her latest effort she’s teamed up with Maverick Sabre and Lost Boy to pen the track, with production duties going to ADP. ‘Sunrise In The East’ captures the exhilarating flourish of a new relationship, of discovering someone on a deeper level and is the first taste from her forthcoming debut album which she is currently working on with the likes of MNEK, MJ Cole and Two Inch Punch.
Today we get an exclusive look at the visual for ‘Sunrise In The East‘, which was shot in Vietnam earlier this year. Directed by Michael Holyk (Jake Bugg, Sam Smith), the video captures the beautiful scenery of a place that is famed for it’s beaches, rivers, Buddhist pagodas and bustling cities. On the video, Hill explains, “Vietnam is one of my favourite places in the world and to get to do a video there was a dream come true. 21 hour days and intense shooting made it the hardest shoot i’ve had to do but the whole team were amazing, everyone knew the job they had to do no matter how little sleep we got. I hope you enjoy it”.
To coincide with the video release Becky has announced a UK headline tour for this autumn including a date at London’s Brixton Electric on October 16th. Tickets are available for pre-order via O2 from 10am 27th June, and on general sale June 29th here, excluding Glasgow tickets which can be purchased here.
