England’s World Cup anthem is on its way to the number one spot on the Official Charts. “Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home)” was written for the Euro ’96 tournament and has since become England’s 2018 football anthem.
After England’s win over Sweden on Saturday, streams and downloads of ‘Three Lions’ have skyrocketed, now amounting to 24,000 downloads and 2.6 million streams. Should ‘Three Lions’ make number one, it will overtake George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun.’ But that seems to be alright with him as Ezra took to Twitter encouraging fans to stream and download “Three Lions” at the expense of his place at the top of the charts.
