Lily Moore returns with a stripped-down version of ‘I Will Never Be’, a soulful song reflecting on an experience of unrequited love. Her effortless vocals take listeners on an emotional journey throughout, building to an unforgettable crescendo at the end of this faultless rendition.
In the bare space where the video is set, all eyes are on Lily throughout as she makes even an attic her stage. Armed with only a microphone and an acoustic guitar, no bold backing tracks are needed to carry her.
Talking to Spindle about the filming of the video, Lily explains:
“’I Will Never Be’ is a song I love performing live. Working with the director I wanted to strip the song right back to an acoustic performance but still keep the energy it has with the band. It was the hottest day of the summer in a loft in West London so we were all going a bit mad but I think we managed to smash it!”
Previous comparisons to a young Amy Winehouse show the level of excitement around Lily’s talent, with her unique voice leaving no doubt that she is one to watch in 2019. She may have previously shared the stage with George Ezra and James Bay, but with musical offerings like ‘I Will Never Be’, it’s only a matter of time until she takes on similar venues on her own.
