Savage x Fenty Celebrates Diversity

Thursday 13 September 2018

Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show closed New York Fashion Week and, unsurprisingly, did not disappoint. Revealing her Autumn/Winter lingerie collection, the sensory experience was more of a performance than your standard runway.

The Garden of Eden-inspired extravaganza was both wild and wacky, complete with sand, grass and cacti, and clearly demonstrated Rihanna’s progressiveness, working to challenge the fashion industry norm. Featuring women of all shapes, sizes and colours, this inclusive showcase was a powerful celebration of womanhood.

Plus-sized models, pregnant women, the Hadid sisters, and former Victoria Secret model, Joan Smalls, were amongst the diverse runway cast who expressively danced to a heavy bass soundtrack.

While a show of this magnitude means the focal point is not the clothing, the lingerie was lacy, decadent and colourful. Made in a wide range of sizes, from 32A to 44DD and XS to 3X, RiRi really is championing diversity and body-positivity.

The 15-minute-long expertly choreographed performance was live-streamed on Rihanna’s YouTube channel, watch it here:
