One Direction’s Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson can be found on BBC’s Channel 4 tonight. At 7pm, an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox will air in support of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer. Seeing as Louis lost his mother, Johannah Deakin, to leukemia in December 2016, the cause is one that means much to the pair.
Of his participation in the charity event, Louis Tomlinson said, “At a time when this awful disease affects more of us than ever before, we have to pull together to make a difference. I’m delighted to join Liam as Stand Up To Cancer Goggleboxers this year, and hope we can help raise as much money and awareness as possible for the campaign.” Liam Payne noted, “Louis and I are honoured to be a part of this year’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign. We hope we can help raise much needed funds for such an incredible cause.”
Gogglebox is a British reality TV show, where we see television viewers from around the United Kingdom react to and comment on British television programs. In addition to Payne and Tomlinson, tonight’s celebrity episode will feature Danny Dyer and his daughter Dani, who won ‘Love Island 2018’. Tottenham and England footballers Dele Alli and Eric Dier will also take to the couch, as well as Stoke City F.C.’s Peter Crouch and his wife, model Abbey Clancy.
Stand Up To Cancer’s research is changing the fate of those diagnosed with the disease. According to the SU2C website, in the 1970s, only 1 in 4 people with cancer survived. 2 in 4 people beat their cancer today. The charitable program predicts that by 2034, 3 in 4 individuals diagnosed will conquer their disease thanks to the studies made possible by donations and events like Celebrity Gogglebox.
Tune in tonight to support Louis, Liam, and Stand Up To Cancer in their fight!
