Ariana Grande, Pop Queen, Unveils ‘7 Rings’ Single And Video

Monday 21 January 2019

The ‘Sweetner’ artist turns sour with this rough-around-the-edges new drop ‘7 Rings.’ Enveloped in neon pink light, rhinestones and fur, Grande flaunts her wealth and success in an Aisian-inspired Barbie-Dreamhouse-like video which has gained more than 49 million views since posting on Jan. 17.

The new track is reminiscent of The Sound of Music’s ‘My Favorite Things,’ but instead of Julie Andrews singing about whisker on kittens, Grande sings of diamonds, ATM machines and preferring being tied up in cuffs rather than strings.

This new drop seems like a continuation of Grande’s ‘Thank u, Next,’ persona. That track has so far accumulated almost 267 million views on Youtube and has amassed 465 millions streams on Spotify. The video was extremely popular with its recreation of famous films like ‘Mean Girls’ and ’13 Going on 30.’

This edgy, not-so-sweet-girl vibe is refreshing and reinvents the doe-eyed ponytail-obsessed singer. While still styled with her iconic long locks, this emerging girl boss is serving serious vibes, and I am so here for it.
