Banksy Artwork Dedicated to Victims of Bataclan Attack Stolen

Monday 28 January 2019

Banksy, a popular British street artist, painted an image of a young mourner in remembrance of the victims of the 2015 Bataclan terror attack. According to Reuters, the mural was painted on one of the emergency exits of the Bataclan. It has now been reported stolen.

According to the BBC, the art was taken overnight Friday. It was removed with angle cutters and was taken into a truck by ‘hooded figures’.

In 2015, 90 people were killed by terrorists while they attended the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan in Paris. The attack was coordinated with others around the city resulting in a total of 130 deaths.

Banksy’s work is highly sought after with one recently being sold for over a million pounds before shredding itself.
