Meet Madison Paris, the Chilled R&B Songstress

Tuesday 09 April 2019

Coming from Slough, UK-based songstress Madison Paris is quickly gaining popularity after entering the scene just over a year ago.

Her latest release ‘Triple’ blends genres of R&B, pop, and trap all into one and shows Madison’s dimensionality as an artist. With her flawless vocals and ability to wow audiences all over, she is set to make a huge statement in the music industry in the coming months.

We had the chance to ask Madison a couple things about herself…

You’ve recently entered the music scene and are already beginning to make waves… can you tell us a little more about yourself?

I’m 23, I write / co-write all of my music and I currently live in Slough, just outside of London. Music has always been my first love and something I’ve aspired to do however growing up in a town where there weren’t many opportunities for music I think it always felt far fetched. In November of 2017 I decided to just go for it and released my first single and I guess the rest is history. I’ve achieved so much since then and really found myself through music so I’m grateful for the journey!

What is your favourite aspect about creating music?

Definitely songwriting. I love the honesty and vulnerability of it. I could write something about a personal situation that could resonate with thousands of people who will each have their own interpretation of what I’m saying. Being able to tell a story that connects with each person who hears it differently is like magic to me.

How would you describe your sound?

If I had to describe it I would maybe call it chilled RnB. I’m all about vibes and creating a song relevant to a feeling or moment I’m in so I sometimes find it difficult having to box it into a genre or specific sound. I just make what feels right I guess!

What are you doing when you’re not making music?

I love finding new ways to inspire myself so I’ve recently started reading a lot more and spending a lot more time outdoors. I’m quite focused at the moment and am definitely an introvert at heart so honestly when I’m not making music I’m normally just thinking about what I want to make next or how I plan to takeover the world haha.

What do you hope fans take away after listening to your music?

My favourite songs are always the ones that make me feel something. I have memories attached to certain songs because of the way they made me feel, the things or people they made me remember and the moments I’ve experienced with those songs. I want people to feel like that with my music too. I hope it invokes some kind of emotion, whether it be happy, sad, nostalgic etc. I just hope it connects and creates a moment.

Who or what are your biggest influences?

I’ve always been inspired by Beyonce and Rihanna from a really young age. They’re incredible performers and artists who have evolved effortlessly with their music. Amy Winehouse is also an artist who like most I grew up listening to. I think what I learnt most from her was that you don’t have to have the most impressive range or do the most tricks with your vocals to still be impactful and iconic. She was all about her tone and her feeling and I think as an artist who maybe isn’t the most technical singer its inspired me to really focus on perfecting what I’m good at and put my personality into my music. Currently I also love NAO, H.E.R, Daniel Caesar etc. Artists that are doing RnB but still making it feel unique and personal to them.

What are you looking forward to most in 2019?

I just got back the video treatment for my next single and it is amazing! I almost screamed when I read it. I don’t think people will expect this kind of music video or song from me so I’m excited to see the reaction! That and just continuing to make and release great music!
