Tim Bergling, popularly known as Avicii, died last year at only 28 years old. With loads of extremely popular music and rising fame, Avicii’s untimely death shook the EDM world and revealed the pressures of touring, being a celebrity and living with mental health issues. A statement from the family at the time publicly acknowledged his death was caused by suicide.
Now, to remember the empire of EDM the young musician created, a full album titled Tim will be released in June featuring music Avicii was in the process of creating at the time of his death. One track, ‘S.O.S.’ was released 10 April.
Additionally, according to the New York Times, Avicii’s family just announced a foundation called the Tim Bergling Foundation, which aims to prevent suicide and aid groups working to help those struggling with their mental health.
Conversations about what to do with music he had been working on began just a few days after his death. His father, Klas Bergling, insisted it be released. “It should be released,” he said in his New York Times interview. “No question about it.”
