Nipsey Hussle feat YG Last Time I Checked

This past week has been a rough one for the music world after the loss of Nipsey Hussle. The MC was an expert lyricist, a community activist for Los Angeles, and overall brilliant man. His track Last Time I Checked is the perfect description of his journey within the rap game, the highs and lows of the hood and everything else in between. Accompanied by YG the record effortless brings old school west coast rap to the forefront. Rest Easy Nipsey.

With their headlining Coachella performance’s right around the corner Tame Impala has dropped another banger to their impressive catalog. They are giving us major 60’s psychedelic vibes with the use of the piano, tambourine, and funky beats–the perfect festival track.

George Gretton – Tread Water

Art-Pop and alternative R&B, two genres that can be easily applied to George Gretton’s transcendent debut Tread Water, but it’s so much more than that. Debut this may be, but amateur he is not. Out of that desire for musical identity, his creative freedom flourished, now making music akin to such iconic artists as Ben Khan, James Blake and echoes of Bon Iver. The genius in the self-produced Tread Water is in its understated simplicity, organic sounds perfectly collide with electronic, pulling focus to the innovative and stellar songwriting.
