The Korean Pop group BTS has made history by becoming the first South Korean group to headline at Wembley Stadium.
After selling out tickets in just 90 minutes, the group took to the stage at Wembley Stadium June 1st. This was the first gig of two that the group performed at Wembley. These dates are a apart of their “LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF” world tour, and they will soon be traveling to Japan and France for more upcoming dates.
This is not the first time the group has made history. Earlier this year BTS, which stands for Bangtan Boys, became the first Korean group to have a number one album on the UK charts. This is just a peak into the success that the group has had though. In the past couple of years BTS has broken into the mainstream and become extremely popular in the UK and US.
BTS’ success can be attributed to their dedicated fanbase, whom call themselves ‘Army’. Many fans claim the group has saved their life and have helped them through difficult times. Even though the groups sound is pop, their lyrics go deeper, and they often deal with topics such as mental health and suicide.
Breaking norms and taking on taboo subjects has put BTS in the world’s spotlight, and with such a successful run it looks like they will not be going anywhere soon.
