Glastonbury 2019: Stormzy Makes History, Ashley O Makes Her Debut, and Lizzo Promotes Self Love

Monday 01 July 2019

Glastonbury has wrapped up it’s 49th festival, with the tent city being dismantled as we speak. This year was filled with unforgettable performances from the likes of Stormzy, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo and many more.

Stormzy made history this weekend, as Glastonbury’s first black solo british artist to headline the event. His performance has been revered by many including fellow musicians, actors and politicians. Stormzy took to social media after his performance to express his gratitude for those who support him.

Miley Cyrus performance has garnered plenty of praise. Taking the stage by storm, the “Mother’s Daughter” singer brought out a few notable guests including her father Billie Ray Cyrus, Lil Nas X, and Mark Ronson. She covered Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” and even performed as her character Ashley O, a pop star in the Black Mirror universe.

Lizzo brought the energy from her performance at this year’s BET awards to Glastonbury and wowed the crowd with her impressive set. Lizzo and her team didn’t come to play, with her backup dancers wearing knee pads and showcasing a confident stage presence. The set included heartfelt speeches along with songs promoting self love, leaving you wanting more Lizzo after her set was done.

In addition, Glastonbury saw unforgettable performances from Kylie Minogue, Billie Eilish, The Killers and more. Although Glasto ’19 is over there is much to look forward to with the festival’s 50th anniversary coming next year!
